Leighton Holdings encourages our staff to engage with the community and supports causes that are important to them wherever possible. We match the generosity of our employees who volunteer, fundraise or donate to not-for-profit organisations.
We do this primarily through our workplace giving program, introduced in 2006 to build a stronger link between the company and the community. We also make a series of smaller, untied donations to organisations whose work to improve the health, safety and wellbeing of our community is supported by our staff in their personal or professional capacity.
Leighton Holdings has donated more than $2 million to around 400 charitable organisations throughout Australia since 1998.
Our workplace giving program encourages staff to donate to their favourite community organisation through payroll deductions and we match their contribution dollar-for-dollar. Since its inception, staff and the company have together raised around $125,000 through workplace giving.
Employees are free to nominate the charity of their choice. Funds raised to date has principally supported five organisations selected by a staff committee.
Money raised through Leighton Giving has principally supported:

Every week 1000 people are diagnosed with dementia. Already 200,000 Australians currently live with the disease – with around 750,000 forecast to be affected by 2050.
Alzheimer’s Australia provides a helpline, free education, counselling and support services to people living with this condition, their families, friends and carers. They are leaders in research initiatives, advocacy and raising community awareness of dementia.
Australian Cancer Research Foundation
Cancer is the number one killer of Australians. Three out of every 10 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
The Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF) is dedicated to finding a cure for cancer through the continued support of world-class research in Australia. Research laboratories and equipment are expensive so the ACRF funds facilities not provided for by State or Federal medical grants bodies, thus filling a vital gap in cancer research funding in Australia.
CARE Australia
CARE Australia is the largest non-political, non religious overseas aid organisation in the country, providing humanitarian assistance across the globe.
CARE seeks a world of hope, tolerance and social justice, where poverty has been overcome and people live in dignity and security.
Redkite
Redkite is an Australian charity providing vital support to children, young people and their families facing the long and difficult journey of childhood cancer.
Thankfully about 80% of children with cancer survive, however rigorous and extended treatment regimes place enormous pressure on both the children and their families.
Redkite eases this pressure and alleviates distress by providing essential emotional, financial and educational support.
