ASX recognises Leighton's commitment to Corporate Governance

In 2003, Australia’s publicly listed companies were invited to ‘road-test’ their corporate governance procedures, by reporting against the ASX Corporate Governance Council guidelines ahead of the mandatory period in 2004. Leighton Holdings’ Statement of Corporate Governance Practices, issued with its 2003 Annual Report, was praised by the ASX for “its ‘if not, why not’ reporting format and reporting against corporate values”.

Leighton Holdings Company Secretary Ashley Moir, responsible for driving the Group’s response to the current ASX reporting criteria, believes that “corporate governance is one of the most critical components in monitoring the progress and success of the Group, ensuring we maintain a high level and standard of ethical and honest operations. We had a very committed team working on our response and are extremely delighted to have had our efforts recognised so highly by the ASX.”
