Leighton Holdings encourages the operating companies to foster mutually beneficial relationships within the communities in which they operate and to develop professional community relations programmes as an integrated part of projects which impact on the local community. In recent years, the community has taken a more active role in the development process, particularly on large-scale infrastructure projects. The Leighton Group recognises that an effective community relations program helps alleviate public concern about projects and prevents otherwise unknown issues from becoming problems further down the track.

Group companies recognise that wherever they work, they are guests of the local community. They understand that community relations offers significant benefits to all parties through improved communication, consultation and education.
