Leighton Contractors was contracted to project manage the development of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s (ABC) Ultimo headquarters in the heart of Sydney.

The new complex brought together for the first time, all of the ABC’s radio and television facilities in a 14-level building of some 24,400 square metres. The structure also included a car park for around 250 vehicles on the site, which is close to Railway Square and south of the existing ABC complex in Harris Street.

The building houses television studios, rehearsal rooms, production support areas and additional administration offices for both ABC radio and television. Among its facilities are specialised lighting, technical and communications systems.

This is the second time Leighton Contractors has been involved on such a major project with the ABC. In 1987, the company project managed the development of the ABC building adjacent to the new site.
