Description:  

Leighton Asia (Southern)* was responsible for mining operations at the ABK Loa Janan coal mine located in East Kalimantan.

Under the contract the company was responsible for the open cut mining of 6.7 million tonnes of coal over a five-year period. In addition, the contract saw the company undertake the removal of overburden, the loading and transportation of coal from the mine site to the nearby processing plant and stockpiles, as well as the maintenance of the mine’s haul roads.
