ANSTO, the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, awarded a contract for the design and construction of the ANSTO Replacement Research Reactor at Lucas Heights in Sydney, to the Argentine Reactor Vendor company INVAP and its Australian partners, the joint venture John Holland-Evans Deakin Industries (EDI).
John Holland and EDI undertook the design and construction of the civil building, infrastructure and part of the electrical and mechanical works associated with the new reactor. The company also installed components of the plant and ancillary equipment designed and manufactured by INVAP. The new research reactor replaces Australia’s existing reactor which is now over 40 years old.
