Description:  

Thiess (Indonesia) has been awarded a contract for the development and operation of the Firman Ketaun Perkasa (FKP) Coal Mine. FKP is a subsidiary of Bayan Resources in Indonesia. The mine is part of the Bayan Group's expansion plans and is located near Melak in East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The contract includes mine planning and open cut mining services such as overburden removal, coal mining, as well as loading and transportation of coal from the mine site to the river port. Thiess will be mining 40 million bank cubic metres (BCM) of overburden and will deliver 4 million tonnes of coal to the port.
