Al Habtoor Leighton Group was awarded a contract by Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) for the construction of Capital Gate at the new exibition halls in Abu Dhabi.  

This project followed Habtoor Leighton's construction of the exibition halls, claimed by the ADNEC to be the most modern exhibition centre in the world. The Capital Gate addition offers 16 floors of office space in the lower part of the building, while the upper 16 floors is a hotel. The building has a total floor area of 50,000 square metres.
