
Al Habtoor Leighton Group has been awarded a contract by Al Rayyan Tourism Investment Company, for the expansion of the Doha City Centre in Qatar.
The project involves the construction of five towers with all having a direct link to the existing mall, the Doha City Centre, which is one of the biggest in the Gulf. The total built up area of the project is 430,000m2. While the footprint of the podium is 27,000m2, the towers' footprint is 10,000m2, which narrows down to 700m2 at the top.
Hong-Kong's Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts will operate a 250 room 50-storey five-star hotel, while US based Marriott International will operate a 250-room Marriott Renaissance hotel and a 200 room Marriott Courtyard Tower both 50-storey high. In addition, the project will include a 50 storey Rotana Tower-1 and a 48-storey Merweb Hotel.
