Leighton Contractors has signed an agreement with EnergyAustralia to create the Energy2U Alliance to support the delivery of the proposed electricity network upgrade and renewal program for the Sydney, Hunter Valley and Central Coast regions. The newly formed Energy2U Alliance brings together Leighton Contractors, AECOM, PowerServe and EnergyAustralia as the owner participant, and would assist in the delivery of the largest energy infrastructure program in Australia.
The Energy2U Alliance will provide EnergyAustralia with additional capacity to manage expected overflow works from EnergyAustralia’s proposed capital works program. The Energy2U Alliance is one of two private-sector service alliances awarded by EnergyAustralia for this purpose. EnergyAustralia expects to provide the Energy2U Alliance with approximately $100 million of over-flow project work per annum.
The works provided by the Energy2U Alliance will predominately relate to the provision of turn-key engineering services including design, construction and procurement for civil works, buildings, and mechanical and electrical works for multiple high-voltage substations.
Projects will be assigned as they become necessary and the specific terms of individual projects will be negotiated on a case by case basis. Discussions on the first project for the Energy2U Alliance are underway.
