Thiess in a joint venture with Decmil Pty Ltd and Kentz Pty Ltd (TDKJV) has been awarded a contract to design and construct a construction village on Barrow Island for Chevron Australia Pty Ltd, in Western Australia.

Under the contract, Thiess will provide project management, local procurement and construction services for civil and buildings.

The village will accommodate as many as 3,300 construction workers involved in the Gorgon Project, a  project to develop the Greater Gorgon gas fields located between 130km and 200km off the north-west coast of Western Australia. The Greater Gorgon gas fields are estimated to contain resources of about 40 trillion cubic feet of gas, Australia's largest known gas resource.

The Gorgon Construction Village project is a positive addition to the Gorgon Site Preparation project, also undertaken by Thiess.
