Gorgon Site Preparation

Description:  

Thiess has been awarded a contract by Chevron Australia Pty Ltd  to construct the site preparation and temporary facilities for the Gorgon Project on Barrow Island, in Western Australia.

The project scope includes preparation of finished earthwork levels for the LNG plant and associated storage tanks, the production of road base and feedstock for concrete aggregate production, reticulation of site services, material offloading facilities causeway and associated breakwater and the temporary construction facilities that will be used by later contractors to the island.

The Gorgon Project, a  project to develop the Greater Gorgon gas fields located between 130km and 200km off the north-west coast of Western Australia. The Greater Gorgon gas fields are estimated to contain resources of about 40 trillion cubic feet of gas, Australia's largest known gas resource.

The Gorgon Site Preparation project is a positive addition to the Gorgon Construction Village project, also awarded to Thiess.
