
Leighton International* secured a tollroad contract in India in joint venture with Oriental Structural Engineers. The joint venture was responsible for the widening and upgrading of National Highway 3 from Indore to Khalghat in Madhya Radesh State.
The 76 kilometre highway required 31 bridges, 13 underpasses and 154 minor structures including two major river bridges and one road-over-rail bridge. 44 kilometres of new highway were constructed as bypasses and realignment, and 32 kilometres of widening, required excavation of over three million cubic metres of soft and hard rock.
