KCRC West Rail Permanent Way – Southern Area

Description:  

Under the terms of the contract, Leighton Asia was responsible for the design, supply and installation of railway line (known as permanent way) for the southern area of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation’s West Rail project.

Work commenced on the project in September 1999 and construction was completed by December 2002, with total completion achieved by October 2003.

The track runs from the Nam Cheong Station to the southern abutment of Kam Sheung Road Station, including the Pat Heung Depot. The contract also included the supply of special trackwork and baseplates for the entire line.

In addition, Leighton Asia (Northern) was responsible for the testing, commissioning and operational maintenance of the southern area’s permanent way.
