Kwinana Freeway Interchanges and Extension

Description:  

Thiess commenced work on the Kwinana Freeway project in January 2000, which streamlined private and public transport travel between Perth and the Peel Regions.

The works included:
  • the construction of six interchanges between Berrigan Drive and Thomas Road;
  • the upgrade of Safety Bay Road to a dual carriageway;
  • the construction of two tunnels; and,
  • the relocation of the freeway northbound carriageway.

The local community were kept up-to-date on the project’s progress through the use of display boards in local shopping centres, the distribution of quarterly newsletters and the publication of articles in the local and state newspapers.
