Leighton Asia has been awarded a contract by CGA Mining Limited for mining operations at the Masbate Gold Mine in the Philippines. The mine is located approximately 350 kilometres south of Manila on Masbate Island.

Leighton Asia's project scope involves the open pit mining of the Masbate deposit over a number of pits.

The contract will include the construction of selected haul roads, removal of approximately 28Mbcm of waste material and mining approximately 18.7Mbcm of ore.

Under the contract, Leighton Asia will mine 46.7 million cubic metres and will be responsible for all mining operations (mine planning, drill and blast, load and haul ore/waste), with the exception of geology and grade control.
