Client:  Moreton Bay Regional Council
Location:  Queensland
Start:  June 2008
Finish:  September 2010
Contract Type:  Construct only (Alliance)
Value:  $131 million (at 31 December 2009)
Description:

John Holland was awarded a contract by Moreton Bay Regional Council for the upgrade of the Murrumba Downs Wastewater Treatment Plant. The project was delivered under an alliance contract framework that included MWH Australia Pty Ltd.

The purpose of the upgrade was to increase the capacity of the facility to 30.8 megalitres per day to meet the demands of a growing population within Brisbane's Northern Growth Corridor and is an extension to the Advanced Water Treatment Plant project undertaken by John Holland on the site. The Murrumba Downs Wastewater Treatment Plant project utilised the latest technology in bio nutrient removal and odour control, and met rigorous environmental standards. The project scope of works also included a new odour control system, which reduces the impact of the plant to the surrounding community.
