Thiess Services was awarded a contract by RHB Pty Ltd for the excavation, decontamination and disposal of contaminated soils from the Lednez site in Homebush, NSW.
Due to past industrial use, the former Lendnez site, also known as the "Union Carbide" site, and the Bay area adjoining it were contaminated with dioxins.
The renewal destroyed the contaminants and enabled the land to be put to productive uses as defined in the Rhondes Peninsula Regional Environmental Plan, and be considered safe for human occupation.
