Description:  

Thiess has been awarded the coal mining services contract to operate the Tarong Coal Mine, by Tarong Energy Corporation. The Tarong Coal Mine is located in South East Queensland, 15km from Nanango and 45km from Kingaroy in the South Burnett region. The mine supplies coal to the adjacent power stations that provide power to South East Queensland.

The total mine operations scope of works includes:
  • planning
  • drill and blast
  • overburden removal including dragline operation
  • coal mining
  • coal processing, and
  • maintenance of all fixed and mobile plant.
