Strong Growth for Thiess in North Queensland

Thiess' Construction Manager, Mr John Sadler explained that 1997 had been a significant year of growth for the company's North Queensland operations.
"The value of current projects in this region exceeds $100M. In Cairns, construction of the $21M Council Administration complex is proceeding well, and we have recently established on site at the Cairns Hospital, to undertake the new $28M Clinical Services Building."
"In Townsville we are completing the final touches to a $26M Defence facility at Ross Island, and commencing the construction of helicopter facilities for the 5th Aviation Regiment at the RAAF Base, valued at $22M."
"These local achievements are representative of Thiess' strengths throughout Queensland, Australia and the Asia-Pacific Region. They are also testiment for the quality of the clients, consultants and contractors we do business with, and the professionalism of our North Queensland staff, which currently stands at approximately 30," said Mr Sadler.
Thiess has been awarded numerous accolades for the recently completed, major redevelopment of the Cairns International Airport, including a National Partnering Excellence Award and five Far North Queensland Regional Awards including Project of the Year by the Master Builders Association.
The coming years open up a series of exciting growth opportunities for Thiess, to provide a complete design and construct service on major infrastructure projects in the North Queensland region.
