Thiess Commit To CQ RESQ Service
Issue Date: 05 February 1997Issued By: Thiess Contractors Pty LimitedThiess Contractors today announced its commitment to a major sponsorship of the Central Queensland Helicopter Rescue Service (CQ RESQ).
The CQ RESQ helicopter will be visiting Thiess' mining projects throughout central Queensland over the next 3 days to demonstrate first hand to Thiess employees the level of service and state-of-the-art medical equipment available.
Thiess' Mining Manager for QLD/NT, Mr Murray Fox said that the sponsorship was part of Thiess' overall OH&S strategy and will ensure that the highest standard of medical support is available for employees.
"CQ RESQ has become an integral part of the Thiess emergency procedure. Naturally, we have rigorous safety systems and procedures in place to avoid ever having to use the service, but its reassuring to know that its there in the event of a medical emergency at one of our sites".
"The aim of the visit to sites is to make certain that all Thiess employees fully understand the service provided by CQ RESQ, and the procedures they should follow for use of the service".
"The service will not only benefit us, but the wider community and industry in the region. The on-board facilities are outstanding, and the service has access to the highest levels in medical care," said Mr Fox.
Use of the helicopter will be determined by the clinical needs of patients whether it involves acute illness or an injury.
Since establishment of the CQ RESQ helicopter rescue service in September last year, it has completed some 54 medical emergency tasks.
Thiess has mining operations at 10 sites in the central Queensland region.
