Thiess
Thiess is a performance-driven organisation with leading businesses in construction, mining and services. We focus on safety, innovation and technology, and value long-term mutually rewarding relationships with our clients and stakeholders.
Bruce Munro, Managing Director
Thiess is a leading Australian integrated engineering, construction and mining services provider with more than 75 years experience. Originating in Queensland in 1934, Thiess became a part of the Leighton Group in 1983.
The company has grown considerably over the years and its investments and acquisitions have enabled it to develop skills in a diverse range of markets, from mining to telecommunications. Examples of this include the investments made in the Burton coal mining venture and Lane Cove Tunnel Company, as well as the acquisition of Silcar Maintenance Services, which has boosted the company’s telecommunications presence.
Thiess aims to deliver successful outcomes to its clients across the diversity of its operations in mining, civil engineering, process, building, environmental services, utilities services, and facilities operation and maintenance. The company’s name change in 2000, (from Thiess Contractors to Thiess), reflects this operating diversity and the company’s whole-of-business approach to satisfying client needs.
Thiess offers fully integrated engineering and construction services and employs more than 19,000 people throughout Australia, India, Indonesia and New Zealand.
